New Toys: Bike Bag Dude Frame and Chaff Bags

Two days ago I received a parcel from the east coast with exciting new toys. For a few years I have been trying to work out how to carry more and more water as I wander further from the beaten track. Actually living in the desert, I am more concerned about being precisely on the track, but not having access to water for hundreds of kilometres. Anyway, the parcel contained […]

Solar Eclipse

Recently there was another solar eclipse in Alice Springs. Unlike the last one, I didn’t know this one was happening and had the strange strange experience of sitting at the kitchen table wondering if I had lost my mind. Actually it wasn’t so much that I had lost my mind, but my memory as I was certain that clouds didn’t block out as much light as was occuring right then […]

Drunken Devonshire Pasties

So awesome. Three types of stout went into these! So we did make these up as we went along, but roughly the process was… Slow cook 6 lamb shanks in a mix of Amber Ale and Stout for 4 hours. We used 1x Squires Amber Ale and 1/3 of a Kilkenny at this stage. We recommend testing the mix of beers prior to adding to the shanks. Make a sour-cream […]

Keeping Track of Adventures

Hi Everyone, I’ve decided that blogs frustrate me because you can never find a page you want when you want it. For that reason I have created a new page called my Adventure Directory, where I intend to keep links to all the cool adventures friends and I have had over the years. I may even include some posts from my favourite blogs, like twobreakfasts,  Tandem Travellers and Northern Walker. […]

Brisbane Adventures #3

So after 6 weeks in Brisbane it seems like it is time for my second general update on what is going on and why I still seem to have no free time, even though I am unemployed. If you have suggestions on what I should be doing let me know, otherwise I’ll just keep enjoying the life of a leisure! Volunteer Work I thought that since I have to give […]

Planning the Border Loop (QLD/NSW)

So now that things have settled down a bit and I am getting accustomed to Queensland it seems like a good time to go back to NSW. Lonely Planet’s book Cycling Australia describes a 5 day trip around the border region of QLD and NSW that I think I am going to try to do in the coming weeks. It is described as a demanding 5 day, 330km loop starting […]

Planning More Rides

Recently I was sitting around trying to work out how to keep my self occupied and came across a website claiming to have a list of the World’s top 50 riding experiences. I read it and immediately thought that it wasn’t the best rides in the world,  quite simply because any list that doesn’t involve cycling around Tasmania is severely floored. However, the more that I read it, the more […]
